The Team

Each course will be led by an experienced group selected from the following team of teachers and leaders. Drawing on their personal experience of leading churches into growth, they will display an honest integrity in facing the challenges shared by many church leaders today.

Dave Banbury was, until recently,  a full-time  evangelist with CPAS. He is now part of the staff team at Holy Trinity, Stratford-upon-Avon serving in the role of Director of Mission and Faith Development.

Helen Bent was ordained in 1998 and has worked in both Norwich and Sheffield Dioceses. She has always been parish based in what she describes as ‘ordinary’ parishes. She is currently Bishop’s Advisor in Music and Worship and sees her role as encouraging and facilitating worship in the local parish.

Damian Feeney was, until recently, Vicar of Woodplumpton and Assistant Diocesan Missioner in the Diocese of Blackburn. He is a priest of the Society of the Holy Cross, a missioner in ‘Fan the Flames’ initiative and a member of the College of Evangelists. He has been involved in three Eucharistic church plant projects and was a member of the ‘Mission Shaped Church’ working party. Currently Damian is Vice-Principal and Charles Marriott Director of Pastoral Studies at St. Stephen’s House in Oxford.

Robin Gamble is Priest-in-charge of Idle and Bradford’s Diocesan Evangelist. Prior to that he was Canon Evangelist for Manchester Diocese. He is well known for leading St Augustine’s Church in Bradford from a congregation of 30, worshipping under a leaking roof to over 300 people worshipping in a completely renovated building, incorporating a cafe and public library. Robin was the originator of ‘The Gospel according to Queen’, ‘Bart Simpson meets Jesus’ and the Da Vinci code events.

Sue Hope is Priest-in-charge of Shipley, St. Paul’s and is also Adviser in Evangelism to the Bradford Diocese. Prior to that Sue was in parish ministry for nearly twenty years before becoming Sheffield Diocesan Missioner. She was a Canon of Sheffield Cathedral and is a member of the College of Evangelists and a Six Preacher of Cantebury Cathedral. Sue has vast experience both as a parish Priest and Rural Dean.

Tracie Hunt, along with her husband Paul, has a long history of being actively involved with the local church, particularly in youth and children’s work. Tracie now administers the courses for LYCIG.

Bob Jackson is a national expert on statistical and strategic approaches to church growth. He is currently Archdeacon of Walsall.

Janet Russell works for the Oxford Diocese as a Parish Development Advisor. Before that Janet was in parish ministry in South Oxfordshire for 10 years. Janet describes herself as a ‘General Practitioner’ with a passion for communicating the Gospel to both insiders and outsiders.

Neal Short was the Vicar of Burscough for eleven years where he implemented ‘The Purpose Driven Church’ model in a large and growing congregation. In July  2007 he moved to Liverpool to plant a city centre church.

Tim Sledge is Missioner for Peterborough Diocese and was previously vicar of three varied parishes near Halifax. His main interests are in worship and developing new services and worship opportunities in mission. He regularly leads mission weekends.

Joe Steinberg currently works for C.M.S,  but has been a successful parish priest. He is author of the ‘Y course’ and ‘Beyond Belief’.

Anne Wood is currently ‘Families Missioner’ in the Parish of South Bradford. Prior to this she led the Bishop of Wakefield’s first ‘Turnaround Team’ at St Paul’s, Morley. She brings to the course hands-on experience of helping lay people change the fortunes of an ailing church.
