Start! is an excellent resource for helping people explore the Christian faith
— Rev Neil Dunlop

Start! introduces Christianity through six DVD based interactive, small-group sessions.  The Start! course makes no assumptions about participants’ background or experience or knowledge of Christianity or the church. It really does start from scratch.

The down-to-earth interactive approach of Start! has proved a winner throughout the UK and overseas - and in every kind of setting: rural, urban and suburban churches, schools, the armed forces, prisons…

Each session lasts about 90 minutes and is based around short, lively DVD programmes - two per session. Down-to-earth ‘vox pop’ interviews and settings including Blackpool beach, a fun fair, shopping centre and a junk yard prompt lively discussion. There’s time to chat, interactive exercises and space for reflection - all in a style that aims to be honest and enjoyable.

The sessions are easy to run, flexible and work well with big groups as well as small. Above all, taking part in Start! is enjoyable for everyone involved.

As well as those who want to know more about Christianity, Start! works well with baptism families, wedding contacts, bereaved families, parents of children and teenagers and those who are new to the church.

The Start! pack comes with everything you need to run a course, including: DVD, course leaders guide, course members' materials and a CD-ROM containing publicity materials and other resources.

Start! costs £54.50 including postage and packaging.

The new Start! is now complete and available to order! For more details about the course see this flyer

We started out planning to “update” our old version of Start and ended up rewriting and recording new clips for the whole course.
Whilst keeping the best ideas we have included lots of new ones. There are new locations, and new, younger presenters. I have already seen the new material and I am really excited and pleased with the improvements. The content is basically the same , but we have changed the order and added new ideas
— Robin Gamble
Essentially the spirit of what made S1 so special has been maintained but this has been modernised and should be even more accessible to the unchurched. The videos are very different. There’s now 3 video parts in S2. They include a ‘final thought’ from Robin which are stunning. The manual content is different too. Whilst we’ve kept the best of S1, there are new icebreaker activities and images and stuff to chew over. Each session also includes a Gospel account. I guess theologically it’s a bit less black and white when it comes to sin and session 6 is more open-ended - recognising that it can take people a lot longer than 6 weeks before they’re ready to commit.
I hope it will scratch where people are itching.
